[dropcap]As[/dropcap] a couple, we are just ordinary people trying to live our ordinary lives as simply and stress-free as possible. This is simply because it’s so much better for our physical and mental health. Of course, this is not always an easy thing to do, especially at this time of the year when the unnecessary stresses/worries of Christmas/festive season are plentiful, which has been exacerbated by the media and the news.
It is without a doubt that the media plays a huge influence on our lives. From loud news/propaganda to even louder trash tabloid, information is so prolific and easily available now that it’s become a very competitive/loud business indeed. As much as I appreciate the benefits of the media and technology, I can confidently say that sometimes, it really is bliss to just switch the TV and internet off, and simply enjoy peace/solace.
This past week has been marked by very unfortunate/sad news and events, both in Sydney and overseas. The Martin Place incident in particular has saddened both of us immensely. Negative news such as this can be overbearing. It can also be a challenging test on ourselves and our community. As important as it is for us to be informed by the news, we personally endeavour to be resilient and not let it affect or change us too much, or how we see the world.
The lead up to Christmas is typically a stressful time of the year for many people. This stress can possibly be heightened by the current sad/negative news that’s looming in the air. With this post, I simply wanted to remind readers (and myself) to take a deep breath, relax and take it easy. Bad news/events and stress will continue to exist (it can even have the power to teach and better us). In times of adversity, it is best to rise above it and continue to live our lives as normal, that is, with peace and love.
Have a great weekend everyone. I hope you enjoy the lead up to Christmas as calmly and peacefully as possible. When it appears to get too much, please remember to just take it easy, and keep calm and carry om, and carry on. If the news on TV gets too much, simply switch it off. If things don’t go our way for Christmas, just let it go. Please remember to count our blessings, and the true meaning of Christmas. Let’s celebrate it with peace, love and happiness. Remain centred and confident in ourselves and the world. Don’t let negativity or adversity change the good people that we are. Love and light.
