A poem a day – 10 minute poem – A pair of black chopsticks

A poem a day – 10 minute poem – A pair of black chopsticks

A pair of black chopsticks

two rods
sticking together
working harmoniously
like digits

parallel lines
as simple design
solving problems
with easy answers

refined simplicity
that works perfectly
picking objects
and choosing colours

resting on hand
in between fingers
like beaks and talons
clasping food

serving masters
entering maws
smooth and satisfying
fast and freely

humble utensil
excellent execution
like weapons pointing
one whip, two stabs

clicking together
reminding of home
in family circles
celebrating food

Note: Subject chosen and photo taken about 30 mins before writing/typing. 10 mins writing/typing time and extra 20 mins editing time. Can’t seem to get away from this 10 min writing, plus extra editing time format. Oh, well – must just keep on practising. Chopsticks come in many different colours. I love them and can’t live with noodles without them. That’s it – 7 days have passed re. the daily quick poems – can you believe it? Time flies when you’re having fun. I enjoyed it and will continue. Tomorrow’s beginning of a new week’s series of daily poems will be a haiku. Short, simple, succinct and packs a wallop. I love them. Should have kept it as a surprise, but hey – tomorrow’s not far away anyway. Enjoy the remaining of your weekend!

      Hi Jem,

Thanks for your comment. Hope you’re doing well and your thesis is going well also. :) Chopsticks – humble utensils and impossible to improve, just like fingers. Best wishes! :D

Thanks very much! [Blushing] – it’s a good mental/writing exercise that I’m enjoying a lot. A new area that’s fun to explore. It was a lovely/quick weekend. Looking forward to a great week ahead, and hope you have the same. Best wishes! :D

Another moving, classic poem. I love black chopsticks, too, I can’t eat anywhere without chopsticks and even eat pizza with chopsticks, hehe! Keep up the wonderful writing, dear Padaek!

      Hello Rika,

Thank you for your kind comment. I appreciate it and find it encouraging. Love my chopsticks too and use them whenever I can. So versatile and practical. That’s a very clever idea because pizzas are like pancakes. Thank you Rika. Best wishes! :)
