Chili pepper

Note: The chili pepper in the photo below is resting on my new chopping board which I bought at Aldi for $20. It’s made from Rubberwood and is a whopping 40cm x 40cm. I have a thing for wooden chopping boards and wanted to share this great find/buy with you. There’s also a circular shaped board (40cm diameter) for the same price. It’s not made from a whole piece of wood, but it still looks great (and will do the job just fine). I actually like the mixed/random/jigsaw grain markings on it quite a lot. Personally, I prefer wooden chopping boards compared to plastic ones. They just look and work better I think. This board is currently my new favourite board, and I’m afraid of using it. Perhaps, I’ll just use it as a background/backdrop board instead? Anyhow, if you have a thing for wooden chopping boards like I do and if there’s an Aldi nearby, be sure to check them out. I hope you can appreciate them as much as I do, lol. Ciao!

I like wooden chopping boards, too, Padaek. My favourite is my smallish one (25-30cm long) that I made in my year 7 woodwork class at high school when I was 12 years old. It’s in the shape of a very fat little pig, and I have been using it ever since. Butter my toast on it every morning. That means by the end of next year, it’ll be 50 years old!

Hi Jamie,
Thanks for your comment! Glad to know that you also appreciate the beauty and durability of wooden chopping boards. I’m strangely building a small collection of them, but your fat little pig one sounds impressive and takes the cake. I think we made a wooden pencil case at school (the one with the sliding lid). Heaven knows where it is now? Would be great to make my own chopping boards one of these days, perhaps from recycled wood. I do like the smell of good wood and their rustic/earthy character/appearance. :)

Hi Lizzy,
Thank you very much for your kind words and encouragement. I really appreciate it. :D

I love wooden chopping boards too! We only use plastic for meats and other raw food :)

Hi Lorraine,
Thanks for your comment, and that’s a good point about using different chopping boards to prevent cross-contamination. I agree that plastic boards are good for meat/raw food because they’re easier to clean properly. I try to always make an effort to clean my chopping boards very well after a good chopping work out. Reserving different boards for different uses is a wise idea. Thanks for sharing this info Lorraine. Best wishes! :)
