Ants in the kitchen
innocent lives roam
following basic instincts
unaware of eye
Note: I’m new to haiku so please excuse me if you’re a haiku expert. The above haiku and the next 6 daily haiku are my humble experiment and practise in writing them. For the above haiku, I started it last night where I spent about 1 hour typing and editing it before going to bed. I continued thinking about it for another hour before I fell asleep. This morning, I edited the poem and published it. Writing haiku is a humbling experience. Although short and succinct, they can be complex and difficult to write. There’s a lot of info on haiku online. I wanted to take a photo of the ants in the kitchen this morning but for some reason, there’s hardly any left. Perhaps, the cold and rainy weather had something to do with it, or maybe my partner had beat me to them with the insect spray can? I’m sure they’ll return.
