The problem with posting/sharing a post like this is the worry of possibly offending fellow bloggers who are not included in the list. It crossed my mind that by writing this list and not including some bloggers in it, some bloggers might take offence or think that they’re not good or important/special enough. For this reason, I was hesitant about posting this post/list. But let me reassure you that the intention of the post comes from a good place. That is, to share information and benefit other bloggers/readers.
Anyhow, I’m going ahead with the list, and I want to reiterate that I simply want to share some of my favourite blogs with you, and not to place judgement on which blogs are the best or not. There are many excellent blogs out there. You know who you are. I personally know how difficult it can be to write/maintain a blog (although, it can be very rewarding too). And as far as I’m concerned, if you have a food blog and enjoy what you’re doing, then I’m pretty certain that your blog is awesome!
For this post, I want to keep it simple and share 5 (mostly food) blogs with you which I personally enjoy following and reading. I think it’s so grand that we blog about food, but we all do it in such different ways. I love that our unique personalities are reflected in our blog/work. I remember recently mentioning to a friend that this blog is sort of like my art. It’s a hobby, a job, a passion, and an opportunity to write and express/share creativity. If you’re a blogger, I think you’d understand what I mean by this, because I’ve seen/read some wonderful/beautiful blogs out there. Blogs are our work of art. It is our pride and joy.
I would like to mention that just because I’ve listed the following blogs, and enjoy reading and recommend them, this does not mean that I consider myself to be on a par with them, or even come close to the level of quality of their work. In fact, quite the contrary. All of the blogs/bloggers that I’ve listed are ones that inspire me and whom I respect. I particularly admire their work, writing, storytelling, and photography.
Garden Amateur
I’ve been reading/following Jamie’s garden/food blog for a few years now. It’s a collection of masterly crafted and entertaining stories about gardening, plants, food and travel. His writing style is wonderful and easy to read/follow. It flows and appears effortlessly written. His posts are always interesting and enjoyable to read. Jamie’s skill with words and writing is an inspiration. His photography is down to earth and beautiful also. His artist wife Pamela Horsnell also has a blog, which is great to visit to view some of her lovely artworks.
Local Milk
I’m not sure how I stumbled on Beth’s blog, but I’m glad that I did. I’ve only read a few of her posts, but I’m already mesmerized with her work, both her beautiful writing and photography. Her blog is a work of art. It’s filled with gorgeous, moody photos and lovely, entertaining storytelling.
Bizzy Lizzy’s Good Things
Lizzy was one of the first supporters of my blog through social media. That aside, I love reading and following her well curated and entertaining food blog. Her writing is excellent and always a joy to read. Her photos are real and beautiful, and her recipes are appetizing and approachable. Lizzy has vast knowledge about food and her blog is a great source for stories, news and inspiration.
Wino sapien
I discovered Wino sapiens via Aussie Food Bloggers. I’m quite new to the blog but from what I’ve read so far, I think it’s a special blog. I like Edward’s style and approach to blogging. He posts regularly and his writing is succinct, clear and entertaining. His photos are down to earth and effectively captured. There are recipes and reviews, both restaurant and wine. His reviews of wine are poetic and has opened up a whole new world for me.
Grab Your Fork
If you’re an Aussie foodie or food blogger, there’s a good chance that you already know of Grab Your Fork. It’s one of the first and original Australian food blogs. It’s a database of restaurant reviews, and some recipes too. Helen’s writing and photos are superb, and have set a benchmark for some food bloggers to aspire to. Her writing is lovely, eloquent and poetic. Every post is a guarantee for an entertaining read.
There you go – a few of my favourite blogs that I want to share with you. You should give them a visit and check them out when you can if you haven’t already done so, because I think they’re all pretty awesome and think you’ll enjoy them too. There are many other excellent/brilliant food blogs that I love/enjoy reading of course, including yours probably. However, I only wanted to present 5 for this post so that it didn’t get too long/boring. Besides, that’s all I have time for. I’ll share more of my favourite blogs with you on later posts. Until then, happy eating and reading, and writing and photographing!
